bleeding heart

There have been many recent losses for friends, for neighbors. I see spring coming and I think of my mother. I wanted to repost this wee one.

Are You Thrilled

appreciating mom’s advice when she is gone
seeking out her hug in a pot roast
or a roast turkey
her kindnesses in the garden as the bleeding hearts
reach their peak
the way her laugh rang out
in grey ceilings
her hand reaching to say
peace. be still.

  1. “Seeking out her hug in a pot roast”. My mother has been gone almost fifty years and this image brings tears to my eyes. It speaks of a simple home-made sort of love like hers. Thanks, Rose.
