the laundry

she talked on about what I don’t know it didn’t register, and
I have forgotten her name and don’t want to ask her again
taking my clothing out of the washer piece by piece to not miss
the ones that can’t be put in the dryer
my bra that turned pink forever from my red dress
and the ugly underwear I wear only when it is
ninety degrees and higher and she laughed and talked
and then she went one way and I went the other
